Carrie Underwood is everywhere!

Good Morning America Carrie Underwood

There was chatter on Twitter today about Carrie Underwood playing at the Sommet Center tomorrow morning for Good Morning America to promote the CMA’s. I thought about  going down there (at 6AM) and see if I could get some photos of her.

Then I sat down for some lunch (a humongus burrito from our neighbor ‘Chili Burrito’. I love living so close to all the good stuff!) and to read my new ‘Lucky’ magazine. Guess who was on the cover? Yep-Ms Underwood! Good grief, the woman is popping up everywhere.

That seals the deal. I am definitely getting up at dawn to check home girl out. See yall there!

The drooling is over! Droid is in da house

Droid Phone

It’s true; I began drooling for the new Droid phone as soon as I heard about it. I waited, and waited, and waited, impatiently for D day. Friday was the drop date for the phone but I waited until Saturday to avoid the mass of humanity that would undoubtedly be converging on the local Verizon store.

Bad move. The place was packed! I guess everyone had the same plan as I did. When I walked in, dude at the front asked me what I was interested in, and with a cheesy grin, I said “the Droid! Duh!” He just smiled that knowing smile and directed me to fill out an electronic form so I could join the list of other waiters.

While waiting (yet again) to be served, I was able to physically handle the gadget that I had been reading so much about for the last few months. Compared to my old phone, this one is thinner, wider and longer. Nice. Then I started looking at the apps already loaded on it. Very nice. There was even one for scanning barcodes. It’s true! What will people think of next?

My name was called (finally) and I was whisked away to the back desk to take care of paperwork. My new friend, Victor, opened the box to my holy grail and proceeded to drop the prize. A quick run back to the store room and Victor produced the second Droid much to my self contained glee.

I handed over my old phone, so Vic could transfer my contacts and photos to the new addition to my family. He said it would only take about five minutes.

Forty minutes later, and countless inquiries for additional help from other employees, my new gadget was ready. Who knew that my stash of 70 photos would take so long to transfer? No biggie. It was officially mine!

Holding it in my sweaty palm, I gently tapped the front and my eyes grew large in anticipation. I was in overload. So much to look at, so much to tap, passwords to enter and sites to visit. I grew giddy and my hubby grew impatient. I looked up and realized we were still at the store. My bad! But wait. I had to do one thing. I sent a test tweet and smiled to myself. I was in nirvana.

After a quick trip to have lunch, we arrived (finally) at home, so I could play with my new toy. Heaven! The transfer of contacts included my Facebook friends, too. Woot! There were pics of everyone I followed, right next to my phone contacts. Plus it showed on a cool thingy where everyone was. It was mapped! I found apps for Twitter, Facebook, news, weather…it was way too much to absorb all at once. And my battery was drained. So my hubby ripped my new Droid from my hot hand and plugged it in.

So what are my thoughts so far on it? I dunno yet. There is so much to look at and explore, it may take a while. But so far…me likey.

I won a Tony Hawk board!

Last Easter, Tony Hawk, did something amazing-he held a nationwide scavenger hunt on Twitter. Something more amazing than that? I won a deck! It’s true. This old broad went up against local young-uns and got to the site first and found the prize!

After I figured out the clues, I literally jumped on my scooter and rode ‘like the wind’ until I got to Centennial Park. LOL  Check out my account of the exciting hunt….(BTW-I was so into the moment that I forgot I was wearing a helmet, hence the dork photos!)

Here are a few photos from the day:

The happy winner!

t-mobile down nationwide

t-mobile logo

The slogan ‘get more’ might refer to downtime lately. The worldwide cellphone site is down and no one seems to know why. A quick glance at the company’s site has no clue as to why subscribers are getting busy signals or their calls are being disconnected. Twitter is aflutter to the reasons…

What next???

Kristmas at Krogers

Xmas Tree

Went shopping this evening at Kroger’s and you wouldn’t believe what we saw! Yep-Christmas decorations. I dunno about yall but that just seems crazy to me.

Yeah, I know that they usually have that stuff up at Walmart by August; but still. It’s just kinda sad to me that they skipped Thanksgiving and went straight for Christmas.

What do you think about that? Leave a comment and let me know…

Twitter rumor: Taylor Swift at Ryman tonight

A little birdie twittered that Taylor Swift was hanging out at the Paramore concert tonight at the Ryman. So I did what any self respecting reporter would do…I went down there and waited for her to come out. Heck it’s only 1/2 block from where we live!

So I am hanging out and there she is. I saw her walk down the back stairs inside (there was a window by the stairs) and then someone brought a silver Lexus around and parked it in front of the door. Low and behold-she emerged and got in the car. I got a few pics of her! Check em out…

Twitter List now available for 25% of followers

twitter logo

Everyone is all a twitter about the new lists that some folks have been privy to. We were instructed not to share the info with anyone until it had the bugs ironed out (beta). This is what is displayed at the top of our home page:

New! Lists. A great way to organize the people you follow and discover new and interesting accounts. (BETA)

Lists are timelines you build yourself, consisting of friends, family, co-workers, sports teams, you name it. You’re part of a small group receiving this feature, so don’t tweet about it yet!

Then there is a box that says: create a new list and another that says: close.

*******that’s the end of the announcement******

Next to each of our followers (on the follower’s page) there is a small box that toggles down a short menu. It offers 3 choices for me since I have made two lists.

First one is my follow Friday list, second is my locals list and last is a ‘new list’ prompt. I can either check which list I want to add a follower to or I can make a new one. Pretty simple.

Plus you can view other folk’s lists and subscribe to them and other twitterers can follow your lists and there are lists of what lists your on. There are lists of lists of lists!

Yet everyone is freaking out because they don’t have it yet. So far 25% of the twitter population is hooked up but the rest will be added soon. I don’t think this list thing will be a big hit. I’m just sayin…
